What is Ostra and how does it work?
Ostra is a voice diary that uses AI to turn your spoken words into a written journal. You just speak naturally, and the app transcribes what you say. It then rewrites your thoughts into a clear and organized entry. It even fixes grammar and captures your mood automatically.
Does Ostra just transcribe my audio?
It does both. You can use "Transcribe Mode" to get a word-for-word record of what you said. Or you can use "Story Mode" to have the AI act like a ghostwriter. It turns your spoken words into a beautiful written story.
Why should I choose Ostra over standard voice notes?
Standard voice notes are just audio files that are hard to search or read. Ostra is different because it structures your thoughts. It takes your raw audio and turns it into a titled and written entry. It is the difference between having a pile of tapes and a finished book.
What languages does Ostra support?
Ostra supports over 40 languages. It detects the language you are speaking and writes the entry in that same language. We do not translate your memories. We preserve them exactly as you spoke them.
Is my diary private? Who listens to it?
Your privacy is our main priority. On the Wanderer and Dreamer plans, your audio and entries stay on your phone. They are not sent to any cloud server, so your data stays safe in your pocket. Using the Storyteller plan allows you to sync to the cloud if you need to access your diary on other devices. In all cases, your audio is only processed by the AI to write your entry. It is never used to train public AI models.
Can I access my diary offline?
You currently need an internet connection to record and create new entries. We are working on a fully offline mode for a future update.
Can I export my data?
Yes. You always own your memories. You can export individual entries or your entire journal as a PDF file. This lets you keep them forever or print them out.
How do I delete my data?
You have full control. You can delete individual entries or your entire account from the settings. When you delete your account, we permanently wipe all your data from our servers.
Is Ostra free?
Ostra has a "Wanderer" plan that is free forever. It gives you 30 minutes of recording time every month. We also offer "Dreamer" (5 hours per month) and "Storyteller" (20 hours per month plus Cloud Backup) for serious writers. Story Mode is available on all plans.
Do you offer regional pricing?
Yes we do. We believe mental wellness should be accessible to everyone. We offer special pricing for many regions including GCC and North Africa. The app store will automatically show the right price for your country.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
You keep all your text entries on your device. If you used Cloud Backup, we keep your audio files for 30 days so you can export them or resubscribe. After that time, we remove them from our servers to protect your privacy.
Does Ostra work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. Ostra is available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
